        The Complex — Free PS5 upgrade & cross-buy — high-quality sci-fi thriller (8 endings)

The Complex delivers a strong story, great acting and high production values — it feels cinematic and tense from start to finish. The game features a whopping eight different endings, so your choices genuinely influence the outcome and encourage multiple playthroughs. Visually, the game looks noticeably clearer and crisper even on a PS4 Slim. It’s very likely the studio began using higher-resolution masters (shot on 4K cameras) starting with The Complex; this hasn’t been officially confirmed, but the footage and store builds suggest the studio is working from higher-res masters that are then downscaled for PS4 builds, which still gives a clear visual benefit on base hardware. I don’t have confirmation whether it upscales to 1440p or is native 4K on PS4 Pro / PS5 — the PS4 build isn’t labelled “PS4 Pro enhanced” in the store — but the practical result is a sharper image on older hardware and an even nicer presentation on newer systems. This pattern appears very likely, though not officially confirmed. The Complex originally released on PS4 in 2020. The store listing was updated to include a free PS5 version and became cross-buy, meaning one purchase now gives you both the PS4 and PS5 versions at no extra cost. There was no announcement about the new version, so the PS5 build should be available to get in the store, or it may have been added automatically to your library — check your library and/or the game’s store page to find it. That PS5 addition is a nice bonus, especially for anyone who owned the original PS4 release and wants to play it again on newer hardware. Gameplay is a choice-driven interactive movie with relationship and choice systems that affect outcomes — tense, well-acted, and built for replay. The Complex very frequently goes on sale for around £5, making it an attractive pick when discounted. A solid recommendation for fans of cinematic, choice-based narratives — the strong production, multiple endings and the free PS5 upgrade with cross-buy are all worthwhile.
