It has the potential, not enough players.

I played War Thunder since 2012 beta, waited a long time for something like this and after all the delays it’s almost been worth it, so we have the game but we don’t have the players. I wanted to give 2 stars just for not being crossplay. So it’s an amazing game i find it easy to handle and control the planes & Everything looks and sounds really good and it’s fun to shoot down REAL online competitive players. What I really hate is the 1 life bots. You can be waiting up to 7 minutes on many occasions to join a match, while wearing VR that can be… annoying. Once you join the match you will find yourself majorly going 1vs1 and the rest of the players being filled in by bots. It’s suppose to be 8vs8 with each player being able to spawn a plane 4 times. Bots only get one life, so after the first clash at the beginning it can get real boring. There are custom matches but obviously you join them and then they suddenly end. There’s no form of chat/communication in the game so the sudden ending in the heat of combat spoils it. So joining official servers gives you a set time for the round, problem is they are empty. They need to add crossplay as an urgent priority to increase the players. Also, if the map in the cockpit disappears when you load up the menu with your right hand, then why not make it so we can also hold the map in our right hand with a map tab in the right hand menu. That way we can bring the map to our face and not our face to the map. Other problem with the map is that friendly planes at a distance don’t show on the map, by the time you get close enough you just see a blue name or symbol then it appears on the map. That makes sense for enemies but not friendlies. They need to make it so friendlies are always visible on the map to avoid time waisting also there’s problems with name tags not appearing so if you are lucky enough to do 2vs2 more than likely you’re team mate will be trying to kill you majority of the round and on multiple occasions I’ve almost shot down a team mate I’ll be looking right at them, moving my head around seeing if a name appears then I’ll go for the kill then just before or as I’m pulling the trigger I’ll see a name or symbol suddenly pop up. They need to make friendlies easier to identify and increase the sensitivity and distance name tags and symbols appear. If they’re worried about big names taking up peoples screens use faded blue symbols when you’re looking in the general proximity and show a name if you look right at them. These are just my suggestions, my review of what I’ve experienced but I think it’s what the game desperately needs.

He tried to remap some controls but couldn’t find any official info. At the end he gave up on it!! Come on developers can you sort this mess out. He was waiting for this game for months!!!

    Great VR immersion

Tough to get used to controls but when you finally start to shoot down the enemies it's a lot of fun.
