High production values right out of the gate. The acting is top notch, the cinematography and overall presentation feel like a professionally produced TV movie, and the branching story offers a solid number of different endings, scenes and situations — so your choices genuinely matter. Late Shift originally released on PS4 back in 2017, years before the PS5 even existed. The store listing was updated to include a free PS5 version and became cross-buy, meaning one purchase now gives you both the PS4 and PS5 versions at no extra cost. There was no announcement about the new version, so the PS5 version should be available for free to get in the store, or if not, it may have automatically been added to your game library — so check your library and/or the game’s store page to find it. This adds extra value for original owners as well as anyone new, and you can choose which version you want to play. Gameplay-wise it’s a focused, choice-driven interactive film. It’s not especially long, but the replay value is strong thanks to the different paths and outcomes. It’s also very frequently on sale for under £10, making it an easy recommendation for anyone who hasn’t picked it up yet. A great choice for fans of cinematic, choice-based narratives — and the free PS5 upgrade is a very welcome bonus.

Late Shift is a high stakes FMV crime thriller. After being forced into the robbery of a lucrative auction house, mathematics student Matt is left proving his innocence in the brutal London heist. Your choices will have consequences from the very start, right through to the very end. One small decision could change the entire outcome in a choose-your-own-adventure style gameplay that can lead to one of seven conclusions.
Written by the author of Sherlock Holmes (2009 film), experience a gripping live-action crime thriller with a total of over 180 decision points. Do you steal the car or do you run away? Do you follow orders or sabotage the plan? You’ll have just seconds to decide as the film continues to roll with no pauses and no looping footage.
