Standard Edition

Insanely good story - don’t sleep on this

I completely missed this game and, oddly, hadn’t heard of it until I saw it on PS+. Whilst the core gameplay is a touch basic (i.e. combat and weapon upgrades), the story is exceptional, which more than makes up for some of the less refined RPG elements. The voice acting in this game is sublime and adds great weight to the stellar visuals. It is vibrant and what you would expect from a Guardians game (well, more than I would have expected). In the never-ending cycle of open-world "slop" of the last 5–10 years, it was refreshing to have a linear story-driven experience. The humor is on point, and the heavier drama elements hit surprisingly hard. It is a shame this game is not likely to see a sequel as it certainly deserves it. Compared to other recent offerings from Marvel, this game puts them to shame. Highly recommended. I would have happily paid for the game had it been better advertised at release.
