Excellent on-rail shooter with scares that’s had many improvements since launch.

This VR title had a rough launch with complaints about its visuals being too blurry and "last gen". Cut forward 3 or 4 months and it got its patch to bring things up to date, or the way things should've always been at launch as a flagship exclusive title of the fledgeling PSVR2. Cut forward a few more months to October 2023 and the title gets added horde mode support. And this is where my review picks up. As a still recent convert to VR at the time this game is a total rush. The game asks you to be seated, so no need to be moving around and standing, but it does demand some ducking around whilst shooting all manner of ungodly evil. It's an on-rails rollercoaster deal. I haven't played many of those in VR, it's all been pretty free movement, so this for me was a change! In short, loved it, its visuals its sound and its scares which although fairly tame, it's got some very cool horror imagery stuff in it, and whatever visual patches they did after launch, this thing looks gorgeous too and runs smooth, no noticeable pop in anywhere. A full run of its 10 levels is around 3 hours. Multiply that by 3 for trophy achievements and playing out levels slightly differently in choosing which paths you take for certain things. You get to choose different directions to go on the rails in most levels, so there is replay-ability there ... and then when you're done with the base game you can jump into the horde mode and just mow down more evil. The game did crash though, I had it happen outside of levels in loading mainly and probably 4 or 5 times in total during my 14 or so hours of play. It was that long as I did horde mode and also all the achievements for the whole game. Definitely recommended as one of the PSVR2 library staples.
