The DB BR 218 was the pinnacle of 1960s diesel-hydraulic technology, and became well known across Germany, with its ability to be a universal passenger and freight locomotive. Nearly 400 were produced.
Despite their age, the BR 218’s versatility keeps them in use to this day. Many are still employed to work trains away from wires, or for additional cover. Provate companies have also taken stock of 218s to operate and lease them.
In Train Sim World 4, the DB BR 218 roars into service on the Hamburg - Lübeck line. Drive this locomotive in push-pull configuration with classic n-Wagens or take on additional Dosto passenger and freight duties. Bonus Maintalbahn timetable gameplay also features, utilising the BR 218 and Hamburg’s Dostos.
