Overhyped & Not Worth The Money
This game massively misses the mark in being an engaging playable experience. Its "linear" design is a dressed up way of saying that the game is basically a long string of cinematic cutscenes with a few hours of game time in between. Storyline is boring and uninspiring, lack of meaningful or inspiring item/action interactions, and the character plots are kind of rinse and repeat and come off borderline cheesy Spiderman vibes. Mechanics and physics can feel sloppy at times, esp in the few driving segments. The amount of special combo inputs there are versus them actually engaging is also a massive miss, it's like the game was over engineered in this regard only to not be fully fleshed out and create more of a frustrating experience. All in all, this game was overhyped and the review scores here are doing some heavy lifting that the game itself clearly can't. I had higher expectations for IO and genuinely wish I could get my money back even after just 4 hours of play and zero intent to pick this game back up. Lesson learned though, buy the physical copy so if it ends up being AAA hype slop at least it can be returned and get the money back.
