I love this game so much, can't wait for season 2

I love this game with all my heart. If you can free your mind from gear fear and accept that death is the next step, you will have a great time. The onboarding is a bit rough. I died during the tutorial. However, if you get through the first 5/10 hours you will start to 'get' it, and from then on you are hooked. I would recommend playing with headphones, and preferably a mic. You can play this game very well with a casual time investment, playing the game is however not very casual, it is quite tense (which i enjoy). Great things about Marathon: Gameplay: PEAK. It's really fun, and it's fun on every loot level. Enemy AI is very smart and challenging, PVP is crazy, very tense but a lot of fun. Solo pvp is very much a game of stealth and outmanoeuvring one another, when playing trio's you can have minute long gun battles, where you rez ur teammates and they rez u. It is a bit sweaty, but in my opinion the raw skill in aiming and reaction time is less important in this game then in other FPS games. Decision making is really key to winning here, and that makes losing (you will lose ALOT) less frustrating (to me at least). 90% of my losses I can think if at least two ways how i could have turned the battle around. Story: Very much a 90ies or early zeroes Sci-Fi vibe with cybernetic consciousness, DNA, AI, hypercorporations and space anarchists. Feels true to the vibe of the OG Marathon games. Story and lore is mainly audio logs and terminal text in the Codex with some events happening in game. There are 4 different main story lines each exploring one thread of the mystery of Tau Ceti IV, and then you will also unlock parts of lore by extracting valuable items such as Drinkable Cheese-Burgers and Pagan stick figures. These bits of lore can be an encouraging audio message to the prospective colonists from the CEO of bigbadcorporation nr 1, or a very chilling diary entry from a colonist. Environmental storytelling is also very good! Maps: There are only 4 maps of which 1 (Cryo Archive, endgame map) is only open on weekends. Does not sound like much BUT these maps are very well designed and intricate. After 100 hours i am still learning new routes and ways to move around the map. The weather conditions also affect how the map plays, and different events happen each time, so it does not get boring in my opinion. The Endgame map is very cool and i'm only just starting to learn how it works. Gameplay: PEAK. It's really fun, and it's fun on every loot level. Gunplay: It feels great, each gun is memorable and almost every gun is useful! Gun upgrades are very meaningful but don't change the base damage so you can still win using a unmodified gun. Some guns are rarer then others, but in every class of guns the 'best' one is always a gun that you can find or obtain very or fairly easy. Progression: Works very well, there are multiple ways to progress, you can get better loot, complete faction contract, level up your factions, buy upgrades to your base stats etc. I have never run out of gear since you get a lot of it for free by levelling up factions, contracts and the daily free items. And then there is the ROOK character, basically a scavenger which is great way to get some good goop without putting anything on the line. Dev response the season has been amazing! I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves FPS!

The least enjoyable extraction shooter in recent memory

The load times are atrocious, the gameplay is monotonous and repetitive and the levels are all too similar. Don’t believe the hype, it is a crushing disappointment.

can't wait what's next.

I really enjoy the combat in Marathon on PS5. The gunplay feels very unique compared to other shooters. Every fight feels intense and exciting, and the way the weapons and abilities work together makes each encounter different. The combat keeps you on edge because you never know what is going to happen next. Another thing I love is how alive the worlds feel. The environments and designs are incredibly detailed and interesting. Each area has its own style and atmosphere, which makes exploring the game very enjoyable. The futuristic designs and visuals make the world feel immersive and full of life. Overall, Marathon is a very exciting game with unique combat and beautiful world design. The only thing I think it needs is more game modes to give players even more ways to enjoy the experience.

Great Game, Love the gameplay, the sound the graphics, the style it's a total package eveyone needs to play, just stick with it and you will be hooked. Thank you Bungie for this masterpiece.

Infiltreer de duistere scifi-wereld Tau Ceti IV: een vervallen kolonie die wemelt van de rivaliserende Runners, vijandige UESC-beveiligingstroepen en gevaarlijke omgevingen. Terwijl je de zones alleen of met een team afspeurt naar kostbaarheden, gaan momenten vol verkenning en spanning over in snelle PvP-gevechten met soepele schietactie en snelle kills waarin goede voorbereiding wordt beloond.

Ontsnap om je seizoensgebonden kracht te vergroten, verdien cosmetische items met je prestaties en stel sterkere builds samen met je buit. Zet vervolgens je uitrusting weer op het spel om nog meer rijkdommen te vinden in je volgende run.

EEN KERKHOF AAN MOGELIJKHEDEN
Dring binnen in verlaten onderzoeksfaciliteiten, ruige landschappen en veiligheidsposten die restanten van een verdwenen expeditie bevatten die klaarliggen om door jou verzameld te worden. Op Tau Ceti dreigt het gevaar om iedere hoek, met unieke vijanden, dynamische evenementen en omgevingsgevaren. Elke zone verhoogt het gevaar ter voorbereiding op de UESC Marathon die in de hemel hangt.

KRACHTIG. AANPASBAAR. VERVANGBAAR.
Zes uitrustbare Runner Shells bieden uiteenlopende speelstijlen om op voort te bouwen, zoals Destroyer, Recon en Thief. Verzamel een arsenaal aan aanpasbare wapens, lichaamsimplantaten en systeemupgrades om talloze builds samen te stellen. Bepaal voor elke run een strategie met je team en maak een samenstelling die jullie gecombineerde krachten maximaal benut en beïnvloedt hoe jullie gevechten en doelen benaderen.

OVERAL VIJANDEN
Ga het onbekende tegemoet als team van twee of drie man, of alleen in solo-lobby's. Of sluip naar binnen bij teamlobby's die al bezig zijn als een Rook, een eenzame plunderaar die zonder uitrusting begint en niets te verliezen heeft. Sluit fragiele bondgenootschappen met rivaliserende Runners in prox-chat om wederzijdse vijanden te verslaan, maar vergeet niet dat je nieuwe bondgenoten net zo snel weer vijanden kunnen worden. Wees meedogenloos in gevechten: een eenzame overlever kan zijn team herstellen, zelfs na de dood.

Strijd in de Ranked-modus om je vaardigheden op de proef te stellen en te bewijzen dat je tot de beste Runners op Tau Ceti behoort. 

INVLOED IS MACHT
Onderhoud contacten met zes concurrerende facties, die elk winstgevende beloningen bieden om hun positie op Tau Ceti te versterken. Door factiecontracten te voltooien vergroot je je basiskracht via seizoenslange ontgrendelingen, zoals upgrades voor Runner Shells, sterkere startuitrustingen, meer opslagruimte en speciale goederen die worden aangeboden voor buit.

DEFRAGMENTEER DE WAARHEID
Niemand weet wat er eeuwen geleden is gebeurd toen alle contact met de Marathon-expeditie werd verbroken. Als indringer in UESC-gebied bevind jij je in de unieke positie om het verhaal in elkaar te puzzelen. Graaf het verleden van Tau Ceti op naarmate je dieper de kolonie binnendringt.

DE DOOD HANGT BOVEN HET HOOFD
Breng je endgame-build naar Cryo Archive, de eerste verdieping van de UESC Marathon. Los Raid-achtige beveiligingen op om kluizen te ontgrendelen en de artefacten erin te plunderen. Elke krappe gang dwingt je richting een conflict met volledig uitgeruste vijandelijke teams die zich naar dezelfde prijs haasten. Kraak de zevende kluis om een entiteit uit te dagen waar zelfs de UESC bang voor is.
