Sad, I love these games usually

I will say, I absolutely love these games. I count down the seconds until new ones come out and I've played all of them. This one however, I'm sad, I genuinely dislike it. Not because of the genre, but because it felt like playing a totally different company's game. The curator is gone, for one. Two, the storyline just doesn't pull me in and is confusing with how much it jumps around to the past and present. It felt more like "just get the task done" than being drawn in by a story like with the last season. The graphics aren't as good as last season, and the gameplay mechanics just aren't there either. It felt incredibly rushed, and just like they tried to do an entirely new style of game in the wrong way. They should have stuck with the same feelings and mechanics, or changed them in a more fluid way. I just didn't enjoy the game, unfortunately. I'm hoping the next game is different, I still very much intend to play it. But I'm hoping it doesn't feel like they tried EVERYTHING from scratch and feels like they actually put love and work into the game. Cuz this one just felt like there was no heart put in it. I had minor problems with some other games. Man of Medan felt early ended. Little Hopes endings felt a little anticlimactic. But this whole game I had so many issues cuz it didn't feel like it was even made by the same devs. I'm sorry to give this review, genuinely. I love your company, I love your games prior to this. But this one felt so far from the same type of game that it just missed the mark badly. Please consider this making the next games.

Great installment in the series!

Really enjoyed the story of this game. Stealth gameplay and quick time events can be tough. Highly recommend if you like sci-fi horror. Really loved this game!

Worst supermassive title yet

I enjoyed most of their games so far. Really all were at least decent. This one…is just not good. The characters are poorly written caricatures. The story is barely passable. They clearly were more focused on checking boxes than they were on making a good game. I’m honestly not sure if I’ll even finish it. The rewind mechanic could’ve been cool if I cared more. Also, if you want replayability, give the ability to fast forward or skip cutscenes for the love of God!

2nd Best Dark Pictures Story

The story was great, the horror was good and the twist reveal was awesome. All the dark pictures all have small connections to each other but this connection was something I didn’t see coming. Can’t wait to see what the next story will be.

Love Supermassive

One thing is certain: whenever Supermassive Games releases a new game, I’m there day one. My teen and I play these games together, and they’re our favorite game company, so we jumped in immediately after launch. While I wish the game had been longer, had more varied locations, and leaned harder into the slow-burn tension of Until Dawn, The Quarry, and House of Ashes, we still really enjoyed it. I missed the Totem/Tarot-style fate clues from previous games, and I hope they return in the next one. I’d also love less sneaking and more varied gameplay and character buildup. Still, despite a few criticisms, this was a fun experience and another solid addition from Supermassive.
