Star Wars Jedi — One of the Most Unbalanced Combat Systems I’ve Ever Experienced

I have extensive experience with challenging games, including Ghost of Yōtei, Horizon, Resident Evil, Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and many others. I almost always play on the highest difficulty settings and am very familiar with parrying, dodging, precise timing, and complex combat mechanics. Yet somehow, Star Wars Jedi manages to be one of the most frustrating and poorly balanced games I’ve ever played. And the ridiculous part? I’m playing on NORMAL difficulty. The biggest issue is the incredibly unresponsive combat system. Your character constantly gets locked into animations, preventing you from dodging, healing, or reacting to incoming attacks. Combinations and defensive actions feel inconsistent, sometimes working perfectly and other times failing for no apparent reason. I understand animation commitment, but there’s a difference between deliberate combat design and controls that actively work against the player. Parrying, dodging, and hitboxes are another disaster. Enemies, especially larger creatures, frequently land attacks or grabs from completely unreasonable distances. I’ve experienced countless situations where I’m visibly several meters away, have already dodged, and still get hit. I could provide dozens of video recordings demonstrating this. Healing is equally frustrating. You press the button, but your character has to finish their current animation before responding. By the time healing actually starts, you’re often already dead. Enemy balancing makes even less sense. Some supposedly difficult enemies are surprisingly easy, while ordinary creatures in certain locations become ridiculously overpowered, endlessly chaining unblockable attacks and leaving almost no opportunity to respond. A difficult game and a poorly designed combat system are not the same thing. Games like Nioh and Ninja Gaiden are brutally challenging, but they reward precision, consistency, and player skill. Star Wars Jedi frequently feels like you’re fighting the controls rather than the enemies. The story is decent, although some aspects of exploration and progression feel unnecessarily convoluted and unintuitive. Ultimately, I don’t mind dying because I made a mistake. What I can’t stand is dying because of questionable hitboxes, delayed inputs, excessive animation locks, and inconsistent mechanics. Developers need to seriously reconsider animation canceling, input responsiveness, hit detection, enemy attack ranges, and overall combat balancing. Difficulty should test the player’s skill, not their tolerance for bad controls. 1/10. Not because the game is too difficult, but because the combat is fundamentally frustrating and unpleasant to play.

Another waste of money

Great story and really liked to play when it wasn’t extremely easy or impossible. No in between that and constant glitches and crashing has me not wanting to even bother if a third is made

Amazing Sequel

Definitely worth the money. It delivers a much better game than the original, in terms of gameplay and progression of the story for Cal. The worlds feel alot bigger to explore. The graphics as usual are chef's kiss top notch. All around id say its a must have for any star wars fan, and its possibly in top 3 best Star Wars games of all time.
