Leo Messi Edition 2027
A Long-Time Winning Eleven Player’s Honest Feedback on eFootball

I’ve been a loyal player since Winning Eleven 3 and have played almost every installment for decades. Unfortunately, eFootball has become increasingly disappointing despite all the latest updates. My biggest concern is the direction of the competitive experience. The game increasingly feels like a pay-to-win system, where spending money on coins, premium player cards, and manager cards can provide a significant competitive advantage. I understand that a free-to-play game needs monetization, but I believe competitive gameplay should still feel fair for players who choose not to spend heavily. I have also noticed significant differences in player responsiveness during matches. Players with very high speed and dribbling ratings, including ratings above 95 or even 100, can sometimes feel noticeably slower or less responsive than highly rated players on the opposing team. This can make defending and competing for the ball feel inconsistent, regardless of the statistical ratings shown on the cards. The passing system is another major concern. Regardless of playstyle or formation, passing can sometimes feel inconsistent and unpredictable. My passes may go toward opposing players even when I am trying to pass into open space or use different angles. At the same time, opposing teams can sometimes appear to make very accurate passes into their players’ feet regardless of the angle, direction, or type of pass. I cannot say exactly why this happens, but the inconsistency makes the gameplay feel less dependent on player skill and decision-making. Online responsiveness is also a serious issue. Poor or unstable connections can result in noticeable input delay, making passing, player switching, turning, tackling, and defending much more difficult. When there is significant delay, it can feel as though my inputs are not being registered at the moment I make them. I would like to see improvements to the online infrastructure and connection system so that both players can have a more consistent experience. The PvP matchmaking system is another area that needs improvement. Players can be matched against opponents from different divisions, and I frequently encounter teams with overall ratings around 100–200 points higher than my own. Regardless of the division, repeatedly facing significantly stronger squads can make competitive progression feel unbalanced. The promotion system can make this even more frustrating. Advancing requires multiple wins, sometimes in a row, while players using more ordinary cards may have to compete against highly upgraded and expensive squads. I believe matchmaking should do more to ensure that competitive matches are based on comparable skill and team strength. There is also an issue with how some matches develop after one team takes the lead. An opponent may spend a large portion of the remaining match maintaining possession in their own defensive area rather than continuing to play attacking football. While this may be allowed by the current game mechanics, it can result in a frustrating experience and does not feel like the type of football gameplay I want from the series. After decades of supporting Winning Eleven and Pro Evolution Soccer, it is disappointing to see eFootball moving in this direction. I genuinely want the game to succeed, but I hope future updates focus more on competitive balance, matchmaking, online responsiveness, passing consistency, and rewarding gameplay skill. A football game should ultimately reward skill, strategy, decision-making, and good gameplay. Premium content can exist, but competitive matches should still feel fair and enjoyable for players regardless of how much they choose to spend. I hope the developers take feedback from long-time players seriously and continue improving the game. At the moment, based on my personal experience, I would not recommend the current competitive experience to players who are looking for a fair and consistent football game.
