I cried for 20 minutes after playing this game

I cannot express the emotion this game made me feel. It is so beautifully written, the story is accurate tl history, and the characters, while they don't do much besides walk and talk, have a way of drawing you in and making you feel for them. This game gave me a whole new perspective on the Holocaust, and the emotions. God, the emotions. Be prepared to bawl your eyes out if you have any sort of empathy for those who suffered.

Accessibility Features

The Light in the Darkness: Director’s Cut is a free narrative game following a Polish-Jewish family living in Nazi-occupied France. Rather than placing the player on a battlefield or offering a fantasy of changing history, the game stays with ordinary people as antisemitism, state policy, persecution, and deportation dismantle their lives.

The Director’s Cut completes Luc Bernard’s original vision with full voice acting, extended narrative material, new animation and atmospheric detail, refined systems, and a historically grounded reconstruction of Auschwitz.
