Best game to ever exist

This is the type of game that opens your eyes to the potential of video games as a whole. It’s one of the only games that made me want to explore every corner of a world map because everything felt so meticulously placed and no encounter felt like a throwaway side quest. The amount of control you get over your character, combat encounters, branching storyline, etc. is immense, and on top of all of that the game looks stunning and plays well.

Everything a Party-Based RPG Should Be

Larian Studios poured love and respect into this franchise and crafted a masterpiece we will be talking about for ages. The fighting is fun if you like turn-based combat. The cast of characters have interesting stories with powerful voice acting. The game empowers the player to make many meaningful decisions. You'll likely find yourself wanting to come back to play out the story a different way. The graphics are wonderful, and the music is stirring. "Twisted Force," in particular will burrow into your brain in the same way a person going through ceremorpohis might experience an illithid tadpole. In short, this is a game so well-executed that it should be in the catalog of any game who likes RPGs or turn-based combat. It isn't perfect, but it's delivered so strongly that it will be a top game for fans for many years to come.

Good story poor leveling

I played the game on the easiest level and found the story and graphics to be the best part of the game. However, the leveling in the game is terrible and I found myself constantly surrounded by overpowered mobs that could easily kill you and the amount of damage done to enemies was minimal at best. I just couldn't get interested in finishing the game because it was a chore to fight, at times, huge mobs when your healing abilities are terrible and heal for minimal amounts.

review

There are no spoilers in this review. I have played this game on both PC and PS5. The gameplay mechincs flow smoothly from open world to turn based seamlessly. The interaction between PC's and NPC's, as well as those between the PC's is genuine as not everyone gets along with everyone else. The story arc seems overwhelming at times, but that is a reflection of a complex campaign. The controls on the PS5 seem to be a bit complex but that is only in comparison to those of PC. The geography of the world should feel comfortingly familiar to those of us who play D&D. All things considered, this is a thoroughly enjoyable gaming experience.

Amazing RPG experience

I wish I could play this for the first time over and over again. Love the characters, the battles, and the world.

Best. Ever.

The only shame for this franchise is that the developers have said this will be the final installment. There is no part of this game that isn't absolutely brilliant.

Best Game Ever

I hadn’t purchased a game system in years. My newest system was a Wii!! I treated myself to a new PS5 just after Christmas. Having been a D&D player back in the day, I started searching out a game that would help me relive that feeling. After researching, I settled on Baldur’s Gate based on ratings and the fact it is built around the D&D world. All I can say is WOW!!! This game is so detailed and immersive that I have to keep going back to places previously visited just to find stuff I missed the first 3 times around! I have been casually playing this game now for a while and have yet to move beyond the first part. I am enjoying every ounce of reliving the days of questing and coming face to face with friends and foe and great creatures. I find it hard to believe that there will be any other D&D game that can touch what Baldur’s Gate has achieved. 5 stars and 3 thumbs up!!

Generationally good RPG, that's cozier than you'd expect

BG3 is the best game I've played in years. The CRPG space can often times feel like a crunchy zone full of overcomplex data and controls that require a lot of familiarity with complex input controls. While it's not perfect, (nothing is), this game made such smart choices that help bring the game's playability to a much wider audience, and executed it with such a high level of experiential quality that even in my 3rd full play-through, I keep finding new secrets, new story, and nearly limitless fun. This is a game that will and should inspire players and game-makers for many years to come. Larian has always been strong... but now they have hit all-time-great tiers of excellence in a game. Let's enjoy and celebrate this unique moment.

One of the best

Picture, if you will, a fan of Skyrim, a devotee of The Witcher: Wild Hunt, standing at the precipice of a new adventure. This game, my friends, this game is a near-perfect symphony of RPG delight. Every little detail beckons with a promise: crafting potions, upgrading armor, sharpening weapons, and forging bonds as rich and complex as any real-life relationship. Here is a world so immersive that it’s almost impossible to leave. I’ve just concluded one journey, yet already my fingers itch to create a new character, to explore a different class, to dive back into that enchanting realm with a fresh perspective. The logistics, oh, the logistics! They are a marvel to behold—streamlined, yet intricate enough to keep even the most meticulous strategist engaged. The storyline? An expertly woven tapestry, each thread a testament to the writers’ skill. And the characters! They are not mere NPCs, but living, breathing entities—complex, modern, and oh-so interesting. For a queer gamer like myself, this game offers something profoundly affirming and inclusive. It resonates on a deeper level, a place where representation and engagement meet in a joyous embrace. So, here’s my humble recommendation: dive in, immerse yourself, and prepare to be enchanted. This game is a gem, polished to near perfection, waiting to be discovered.
