I have seen a lot of overly critical reviews and comments about this game across the internet. However, I think it is one of the best RPGs I've played in a while. The story and writing are not the most original ever created, but there is a clear sense of style and quirkiness that really shine in this game. The gameplay is some of the smoothest I've seen in this type of game. It's hard for me to go back to Fallout after experiencing the smoothness of this game. The controls are highly reactive and movement feels natural and intuitive. The progression system kept me engaged for the entire campaign. Some have complained that the combat is too easy, but not everyone enjoys a frustrating slog of boss fights, so I think for the average gamer it's a well balanced game. The opening hours are a bit tough but once you level up, the combat is very manageable. For that reason, The Outer Worlds really succeeds at creating an immersive world that is focused on a variety of game play styles and approaches. Honestly, this game is one of the top games I've played so far this year, and I think it deserves far more praise than it receives. No bugs, no lags, smooth controls, intuitive gameplay, and an immersive world. I won't claim it's the most innovative title you'll ever play, but it is absolutely worth the experience. Forget about the critics and just enjoy a laid back, fun time.
