Every hardware launch comes with the platforms’ first and third party games that are the glitz and glamour of the new generation. It’s at this time when indie developers get their hands on the development kit and release a game that is simple in premise and early to the market. “Spy Chameleon” feels like one of those games. The gameplay is simple: sneak your way from Point A on the map to Point B while collecting flies on the way. The ‘map’ is presented in an overhead view and your job is to navigate the chameleon through the rooms, avoiding obstacles, cameras, robots and anything else that would catch you. One of the novel tricks of the game are rugs throughout the levels that allow you to change your color and remain undetected by the robots when they are scanning for you. The music is quaint and the sound effects remind me of Twitch bit and sub alerts for some reason, but otherwise is nothing to write home about. While other reviews mention that the game offers 75 levels to complete with the option to replay levels in a harder difficulty, the gameplay simply wasn’t enough to hold my interest. There’s no real story to the game and no characters to speak of, just a simple logic puzzle game that launched at the beginning of the PS4 generation. If it was 2014 and I had a bit of money for an indie game on PSN, this may be a purchase for me. But it’s 2025, I’m overloaded with games, and this just isn’t of a quality for me to invest time into.

Spy Chameleon is an arcade-puzzle game where the player must avoid being seen thanks to the chameleon's ability to change colors and camouflage.
Through 5 missions and 75 levels, the player will discover different enemies and abilities to complete these super-secret missions: taking photos of a celebrity with her lover and stealing the secret formula of a successful soft drink are just two examples.
Watch your enemies, choose the best path and run to the next safe point. The duration of each level can mean finishing a game in just minutes or spending hours trying to complete the missions and all the challenges, getting the best time among your friends or completing all the achievements.
