Ultimate samurai fantasy
Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece. This is my favorite PlayStation first party game from the PS4 generation, and the Director's Cut is the definitive way to play on the PS5 adding the Iki Island DLC and Legends mode.
The setting and vibe of this game is absolute perfection. The graphics are great, but the art style is what makes this one of the most beautiful games ever made, and it perfectly matches the vibe of the story and setting.
But it's the gameplay that really sets Ghost apart. Specifically, I'm talking about the combat. The fluidity of the combat is absolutely incredible. You can tell the developers made a deliberate effort to make the sword fighting crisp and satisfying, especially in the duels.
The story is fantastic as well. The inner conflict of Jin Sakai on whether to follow the path of samurai or ghost is compelling. The dialogue is great and actors did a great job in both english and Japanese.
Also, I love the freedom of the open world. I admit I am biased for open world games, but Ghost does a great job of making the open world side activities fun and engaging unlike other open world games.
Lastly, I need to mention Legends mode. This is an online PVE mode that adds a ton of multiplayer content and its awesome. It goes back to the days when devs added multiplayer modes to single player games. They didn't have to do this, but I'm so happy they did. And there are zero micro transactions.
The only slight negatives I can think of are sometimes the traversal can be a little janky, especially if you are dealing with cliffs or rough terrain. And also some of the cut scenes for side missions seem a little cheap, kind of what you would see in an RPG. But that is really the only negatives I can think of.
For my final score, I give Ghost of Tsushima a 10/10. Ghost of Tsushima is the ultimate samurai fantasy and I recommend everyone plays this game
