老朽化の進む機関車の後継機として開発された DB BR 101 は、1997年に運行を開始し、運行効率に革命を起こします。丁寧に考え抜かれたデザインもあって、高速旅客サービスの象徴ともいえる車両になりました。製造数は全部で145両。誕生以来24年にわたってドイツ各地の都市を精力的に結んでいます。
