An All-Time Great

Plants Vs. Zombies has been one of my favorite games of all time since I first got it on my iPod touch all those years ago. Since then, I have played and replayed this game countless times. On a surface level, this feels great and the average person won't notice a difference between this and the original they remember. Some will notice countless differences. I fall somewhere in the middle. I've played this on mobile and Steam before and for a remaster I would have loved to see this have every single mode type and feature in all versions of this game. Why not make this the definitive version with everything included? The music, visual art style, and gameplay are perfection and I wish PVZ2 and eventually PVZ3 would have leaned more into this than the overly cartoon style they've gone in. Had this release had everything previous releases had had, I would have considered this a 5 star rating because I am a firm believer this is one of the best games ever made. For first time players, this is a great and modern way to play this game.

My opinion.

Honestly, it does have some changes, but they are very slight. In essence, it is the same game that already exists on mobile phones. If it really were "Replanted," I would expect more new content, something that would attract attention - unreleased plants, new worlds, extra modes or an expanded story. As it stands, it feels more like an HD port, not a reinvention. The price is another issue: $20 for something that is free on mobile is simply not worth it. I am not saying that the game is bad, only that it does not offer enough to justify the cost. If EA or PopCap had added really fresh content, I would pay for it without a problem, but it feels lazy.
