Incredible Experience

This is the first extraction shooter I have gotten into. It's approachable even for more casual players like myself - except now I'm sucked in so maybe not that casual. Yes, there's PVP but queuing solo 9/10 players are friendly if you are friendly to them. The graphics, sound design, and gameplay are all 5 stars. There could be some quality of live improvements made to the UI and crafting. This game is even playable on a PS Portal via your console or Cloud Streaming and I've had quite a few successful solo extracts playing this way. Nearly every match I come out with a new story that happened organically during gameplay I'm excited to tell a friend about.

Kinda sucks now

It was fun at first, now teams just camp in the walls, wait for you to loot everything, and then they shoot you in the back and take everything. It's so glitched it's broken, and now they cheaters use discord to group chat so they can't get reported for talking trash as they glitch. It would be fun if streamers would stop teaching people how to camp and be turds. It's not really pvp, it's just cheaters killing everything. I got shot through the ground while fighting a queen today. The hardest boss and someone went under the map and just killed us all. There's no point in playing it anymore.

boring

Loot. Extract. The end. At least have an interesting game mechanic if you want me to do chores. Clunky, empty, and forgettable.

PvP Broken

I’d wait to buy until they fix glitches and PvP. I have no issue with pvp and getting smacked around, but it’s not fun getting murdered by folks who teleport through walls, use exploits, etc. if they fix that nonsense, it could be decent

Ignore the haters

I spent 20 hours dealing shrooms in the swamp. The game is as fun as you make it.

Hard for New and Solo Players

Beginners start with weaker gears and can lose items to stronger players, making early progress difficult. Although the game says it can be played solo, solo players are matched against other players, who might be groups, so without a dedicated solo or PvE mode, I may uninstall the game due to the time and cost of grinding.

Mandatory PvP is short sighted…

This game has so much going for it but the lack of a PvE only mode removes the ability to casually game with this title. The mechanics of this game are a bit clunky for PvP too. I’m not sure how many hours I’ll waste playing this if it doesn’t change.

Loved It At First

I really loved this game for the first week. Graphically, the game is beautiful. The sound is amazing. Getting out into the world is like an actual adventure. The environment, weather, the feel of the world are all amazing. I've also met some very friendly people and had a blast running around with them. Rat players and backstabbers are ruining the experience. Players that have already done all they wanted to now hunt you for sport. They lie, fake friendliness, and stab you in the back. Like your loadout? Too bad, someone will feel obligated to take it from you. Want to finish a quest? Sorry, somebody would rather put you down. It seems like the objective has become to play the game they paid for by keeping others from playing the game they paid for. You'll hear "Oh, you didn't expect PvP in a PvP game, bro?" Is the PvP really the main course in this game, or is it the side dish? These dirty players play it like it's Fortnite. The Arc is tough enough without having to worry about the rats. I wonder how many of them are streamers. "Watch me get 'em, guys! Like and subscribe!" It gets 2 stars because it's a beautiful game, but my desire to play this game diminishes every time I play it. If I wanted constant battles against slide-cancelling rats I'd play COD.

This is the first title in the last 4 years that has me struggling to put it down.

I don't normally leave reviews like this but I was looking at my game library and noticed so many negative reviews about Arc Raiders. Most of these negative reviews being about the PVP aspect and trust me, I completely understand where a lot of the upset comes from cause it is a huge bummer to be shot in the back while you are digging around in a box looting the goodies. It may just be me but 9 out of 10 of my topside experiences is friendly, most raiders I run into are just trying to do their own thing and not PVP other raiders. Also, I communicate with my real voice... using the emote wheel for "Don't shoot" to start and I'll open my mic and say hello and that I'm friendly. I've had encounters with attacking raiders where once I opened dialog and told them to stop shooting, they did and apologized. I had a strange encounter once where the guy was unresponsive, downed me then revived me, only to try and down me again minutes later. I never shot at him so I guess that's why he didn't finish me off. I feel like this is a game you can play however you want on that PVPVE spectrum. But you must expect to be let down at time. I've opened a door only to be stun mined and ended. I've been shot in the back more times than I can count. Most of the people who have attacked me are mute, never say a word. The first time I went to raid a harvester, it started the cleanse inside and I had a sliver of health left trying to get out of it before I burned completely only to have a raider crouching in a bush pop me one shot, like whyyyy my guy this is dirty behavior. But I keep playing, I'm trying to be the change, the positive helpful raider. If you speak back to me, I'm going to offer whatever help I can. I got a message back from another raider after we escaped together, we both got downed by a rocketeer. It was his first raid he told me. I got downed running to the elevator button and thought it was over. Then this raider came running up and hit the button, immediately got downed himself and started crawling away to hide. I opened the mic and told him... "hey buddy don't go too far, you hit the button on the elevator and it's coming. We should have just enough time for it to come and open to get out of here" And he did that, we both made it. He sent me the message after about it being his first and thanking me. I thanked him back for catching the button or else we both would have lost. In life, the negative experiences we have often outweigh the good but I have found more positive topside with my time in this game. Also, I've only downed two raiders... pride myself in choosing peace 99% of the time. The only two times was because I had met friendly players ingame that became under attack by another raider and I was compelled to defend them. So my point of the beginning of this review is to not let the PVP scare you off too much. It will happen, you'll lose your backpack of loot from time to time... to raiders and ARC. But I'm having an absolute blast playing it. Wouldn't change a single thing other than those players feigning friendly and shooting other raiders in the back. It really speaks volumes of your character to be this kind of player. Call it a video game and not real life all you want, you are at your core a trash person if you have no remorse in this. I said what I said. But to talk about the game itself... if you like looting, this one is for you. I dislike the constant inventory management but us looters know that mechanic. It's necessary to have limits and you do tend to find yourself spending 10 minutes clearing out unnecessary loot. The game plays very well, I haven't had many issues or bugs at all. The sound design is really well done and my anxiety while wearing a headset is high, hearing everything from nearby raiders to arc to the trees creaking in the wind. The motion and action and shooting in the game all feels great. I know there are several ex-Dice devs involved with this title and you can see it. Go play it!

I bought the game and now I'm forced to pay for Plus to be able to play!

I bought the game and now I'm forced to pay for Plus to play it. So don't put the Standard version up for sale, make it only available to those who pay for Plus. Now I have to pay twice for the same game, $40 for the game when I could just pay the $10 for Plus and I already have it. I can't even ask for a refund anymore because the game was "downloaded" on the console, even though I didn't even open it on the console.

SCAVENGE, SURVIVE, THRIVE

In ARC Raiders, gameplay flows between the surface ruled by lethal machines, and the vibrant underground society of Speranza. Craft, repair, and upgrade your gear in the safety of your own workshop, before venturing topside to scavenge the remnants of a devastated but beautiful world. Play solo or in parties up to three, navigating the constant threat of ARC's machines and the unpredictable choices of fellow survivors. In the end, only you decide what kind of Raider you are - and how far you’ll go to prevail.

EXPLORE AN IMMERSIVE WORLD

Explore four distinct maps at launch, with more to be revealed as the underground society evolves and expands its reach. Each destination carries the weight of a world twice-destroyed, and the scars of conflicts both old and new. Sift through the remnants for valuable loot, and piece together the past as it's slowly reclaimed by nature. Evolving map conditions ensure that no two runs are the same, with varying weather, enemies, and mechanics adding unpredictability and danger.

STAKE YOUR CLAIM

In a society built on boldness and bravado, it is up to you to stake your claim as a Raider. The loot you scavenge can be sold for coin or crafted into all-new gear, allowing you take on increasingly lethal dangers head-on. Through both victories and hardships, you'll gain valuable experience; unlocking varied skills that enable all-new ways of play. In addition, you'll complete quests for Traders with differing motives and agendas; uncovering both the friction and comradery of a community under constant threat of collapse.

BEWARE THE MACHINES

Lethal machines known as ARC rule the surface, ranging from unrelenting drone swarms to mechanical giants that obliterate everything in their path. Their origins remain a mystery, but their ever-present danger is felt with every step you take. Each machine comes with distinct strengths and tactics, forcing you to pinpoint their weak spots and constantly think on your feet. And remember: the noise of battle carries.

FORGE YOUR OWN PATH

Raiders survive by kitbashing scavenged materials; using long-lost tech and looted ARC parts to craft weapons, gadgets, and gear. Upgrade your workshop stations and learn blueprints to craft even more advanced items, or improvise quick fixes in the field to get yourself out of a bind. As you make a name for yourself, you'll be able to measure your skill against other Raiders by taking on Trials; rising through the leaderboards to earn valuable rewards.

QUESTS

In Speranza, everyone has an agenda, and the Traders are no different. They’ll send you topside on missions in exchange for rewards, slowly revealing more about who they are and what they want for Speranza’s future. Complete quests to earn gear, crafting materials, and XP to level up your Raider and unlock new skill points.

SKILL TREE

The ARC Raiders skill tree branches into three paths: Survival, Mobility, and Conditioning. Spend your points to shape your playstyle. Loot faster and move quieter with Survival skills. Outmaneuver your opponents and threats with Mobility. And enhance your Strength and Stamina with Conditioning. Choose how you grow and what your Raider brings to the battle.

BUILD YOUR ARSENAL

Whether you’re preparing to take down specific ARC enemies or fend off rival Raiders, there's a choice of weaponry for every fight. Cater to your style with a range of firearms including SMGs, rifles and shotguns, as well as more advanced options such as railguns and energy weapons. Grenades, traps, ziplines and deployables offer the tactical depth needed to outsmart your enemies, while augments allow you to tailor your loadout to your preferred playstyle; unlocking additional gameplay perks.
