One of the Greatest

I'm a veteran gamer, been playing since the days of Atari and NES. I have played all the big name titles over the years, and this is one of the best hands down. The attention to detail, the crafting, the quests, the way you can track specific parts for builds, how the side quests don't feel like "filler". That is just some things off the top of my head. The gameplay is also smooth as butter. Don't take my word for it, try for yourself.

It was okay

There was nothing mind blowing or anything. Just more of the same - Robot versions of animals.

Fantastic follow up

Incredible addition to the Horizon world. Picks up where the first one left off and is just as good or better in every respect. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

and incredible beginning for the rebirth for Earth

Playing this game after playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, was an amazing experience. Completing the game and it’s DLC was incredible. Guerilla Games use of haptics with the controllers on PS5, has not been repeated in any other game. Having grown up in some of the areas and spent time in other places depicted in the game, I could smell the scenery or feel the temperatures. The incredible amount of details in this game are beyond the pale. This game should have had many, many accolades, but is cut short apparently due to timing with other game’s release dates. This game is just - incredible..

So sad I finished

It was a very immersive game and I enjoyed getting lost in the mountains and the storyline. When it was over I missed it so much I bought the LEGO Tallneck, the graphic novels, the board game, and even the cookbook.

A sequel done right

A perfect sequel to a near-perfect game. Enhanced mechanics, new weapons and enemies, and a bunch of other great improvements. Best of all, it's an open-world game where the side missions don't feel repetitive or pointless. The side quests are all interesting and rewarding. Couldn't recommend this enough to those who were fans of the original!

A very worthy sequel

While I feel the "story" in Horizon Zero Dawn was superior...everything else is better in Horizon Forbidden West. The side missions are MUCH improved...and there are some NPCs that are most memorable. I've spend countless hours in the Horizon-verse...this is a very worthy sequel to Zero Dawn. I sometimes play "other" games...but always return to Horizon. Can't wait for the next (final?) game in the trilogy(?).

A huge, visual spectacle that can be over complicated at times.

Horizon's 2nd entry is nothing to sneeze at. Grand story lines, great acting, beautiful landscapes, and new friendships. While all these build up from the previous entry, I felt like the skill trees and weapons systems become overly complicated and cumbersome especially towards the end of the game. I found myself missing some of what made the first game really good with its earlier fighting mechanics. With so many choices, its easy to get lost in all the different ways to fight and all the weapons and armor choices. The difficulty was well tapered, and Aloy's character grew in fun and unexpected ways. Forbidden West is worth the time and lots of fun; however, I hope the developers do not continue to create too many fighting options and instead continue to focus on great story telling, problem-solving, and fun machine fights.

Uninspired and monotonous

Every quest feels the same. "Do this for me and also kill a big machine." Over and over and over again. I'm not going to lie, it gets straight up boring. Very little thought was put into creating a unique storyline.

Not Forbidden

I played the first Horizon game through and loved the open world play. Forbidden West expands on that over 10 fold. You are not just going from A to B, you can do things in whatever order you want. I love having the ability to upgrade weapons and armor and that you don’t have to do everything before you do the end game mission. I am excited to see where in the World Aloy goes to next.
