I wanted to love it but...

...I couldn't figure out the shamisen tutorial. I spent several minutes trying to just get through it and finally realized I never want to do that again. Simulation minigames like this should be optional or excluded.

Ghost of Yotei takes everything Ghost of Tsushima did and makes it better. The graphics are breathtakingly beautiful and the combat feels fresh. They took stances away and replaced them with different weapons. It's still the same rock, paper, scissors combat with the different enemy variations, but having access to more weapons just feels better IMO. It's incredibly easy to get distracted from the main story with all of the bounties, shrines, side missions, hot springs, etc. The story and general gameplay around the Yotei Six and the various bounties you meet in the game are heavily reminiscent of samurai movies and westerns.

Fantastic Game!

Ghost of Yōtei takes everything I loved about its predecessor and elevates it — the world is breathtaking, the combat tight and exciting, and the story pulls you in. I had an amazing time playing it and couldn’t put it down.

Great Game, short of Excellent

First and foremost, mechanically and art direction-wise, it is amazing. -The Rock, Paper scissors approach to combat and all its technicalities makes it challenging and very enjoyable, definitely an evolution on GoT’s great combat. -The way the world is presented and character progression is delivered is very refreshing on regards of open-world design. It gives a very unique and thoughtful window of the world that is showcasing, something that can’t be found anywhere else. And again shows a welcome progression on the design between GoT, Iki Island and now GoY. -Visually the world is stunning, but beyond the obvious what makes it stand above the rest is how it makes use of the DualSense, it uses it very creatively to make the world more “tactile”, making it one of the best technological showcases of the PS5 on top of its graphics. The game is worth it for that alone, but what is frustrating is that you can feel that it is in the cusp of true greatness but not quite there. The difference between finishing GoT and GoY. On the former one may feel like coming down from an emotional rollercoaster and feeling somewhat sad of having to stop following its characters’ stories. On GoY, by the end, unfortunately I felt underwhelmed. And again, its potential is there. (The story is structured in some small regions connected by single “corridors” instead of 3 big “chunks” in GoT) On the first areas one explores, the characters and story are firing in all cylinders, you see the cast, the themes, the set up and it looks great. But then one gets to the last explorable area and it starts to fall short of what was done before. It feels like it needs a “Big Bow” of an ending to tie everything together into an overall satisfying story, but it doesn’t, as if GoT had ended by Chapter 2 instead of having its incredible conclusion. Does it mean that it is a 4-star? I couldn’t bring myself to rate it like that, because I enjoyed it thoroughly, I devoured it. But as successor to GoT, even though it is technically better, it doesn’t reach the emotional heights of its predecessor. Which maybe is more a statement to what Sucker Punch has accomplished. P.D: Crossing my fingers for some single player DLC just like Iki Island to really fulfill the potential that this sturdy foundation of a game is.

Amazing Game!

Ghost of Yotei is amazing! The world looks beautiful, and the combat is super fun. I loved using the kusarigama weapon. The story’s amazing too. The only thing I didn’t love were the Nine Tails puzzles, they got a little annoying over time because of how repetitive they were. But overall, this game is awesome and totally worth playing!

Great Sequel

I've played for many hrs on both PS4 and PS5 Ghost of Tsushima, specially the Legends Mode with friends trying to be high on those leaderboards. The story was so captivating and inmersive, the combat just fantastic. Ghost of Yotei has been able to delivered a greater experience in every way, especially during Combats, Must Confess, the hardest enemy so far has been Takezo the Unrivaled on top of Mount Yotei. Im playing on hard mode and the parrying timing is so unique, difficult and rewarding when pulled off continously, the many variatons of weapons been held by enemies during combat makes you feel on edge, kinda similar to Nightmare Runs on Survival mode but even more intense. Going for Act 2 and im sitting at 40hrs so far. The side quests, the exploration and especially the bounty hunts are all great and keeps you well entertained as you can tackle anything at your own pace, the game feels fresh everytime you pick it up as theres always something to do. Great Job Sucker Punch!! Cant wait for Legends Mode.

Phenomenal.

Absolutely amazing game. Haven’t felt like this since RDR2. Improves from Ghost of Tsushima in every way.
